Yesterday, I ran the IBM Uptown Classic 10K, the first race in the Austin Distance Challenge. It was a highly organized race, consisting of approximately 3,000 runners. I made a new friend in line for the port-a-potty who has completed the Austin Distance Challenge three times and had really helpful advice.
I really couldn't be happier about running again. The people you meet at various races are some of the most inspirational I have ever encountered. For example, one couple who ran the race yesterday moved me to tears around mile 3. The woman was visually impaired and wearing a shirt that said "Blind Runner." Her husband accompanied her throughout the entire race and wore a shirt that said "Guide Dog." Simply amazing.
I can't wait for the Run for the Water 10 Miler in 2 weeks!!
